I talked to a couple people yesterday, socially and in my practice, who asked me why they feel like they have more energy when they eat carbs.
When you have been eating carbs for a long period of time… or your whole life you body is operating through it’s sugar metabolism system to provide you energy. This system burns sugar for every day energy but you don’t lose fat because the body keeps storing it.
When you eat protein, fat and vegetables on a regular basis (and don’t eat carbs) your body uses its fat metabolism and burns fat. It may take a few weeks for your metabolism to change over but when it does you will have more energy because fat actually provides you with more energy per gram than sugar does, and you will be losing fat!
I call this a win win situation! Eat protein and vegetables with fruit in between your meals.
