If the food pyramid works why are we still becoming fat and diabetic?
According to the USDA food pyramid we are supposed to be eating mainly carbohydrates and low fat protein. This goes against every long standing indigenous culture on our planet. Recently the USDA went to work on refining the food pyramid and people were hopeful that they might go toward more natural guidelines but they went in the other direction and became more stringent against fat and proteins. The Weston A. Price Foundation had a press conference about this.
Basically the dietary guidelines that are set by the USDA are making us fat, diabetic and are slowly killing us. We are designed to eat proteins vegetables and some fruit that is in season.
Lean protein is what I see most people want to eat but we need protein with a good amount of fat. Indigenous cultures would traditionally discard animal meat that was too lean, which, companies like http://dcwcasing.com/ use it in making food cases. Absence of fat in the diet causes us to crave more food, thus eat more. This is why we need to constantly fill up on unhealthy calories, because we eat low fat. And many who don’t eat too healthy eat “bad” fats that are found in processed foods.
The amount of carbohydrates that we are eating as a culture is causing us to become a diabetic nation. We are eating this way because we are told it is healthy for us by the USDA guidelines. When we eat a high amount of carbohydrates we secrete insulin constantly and then become insulin resistant, get fat and eventually become diabetic.
If we want a health care reform in the US we need to look to fixing the problem which is the way we eat. Not making the taxpayers pay the bill from the result.
